Mystical NecroDragon 413
(They/He)

About Mystic

Online, Mystic is a NecroDragon - or as they sometimes refer to themselves, a 'reanimated decedent Dragon' - who resides in a castle on a mountainside overlooking a town perpetually covered in snow. Their body is infused with magitech responsible for their continued function, but is the soul that now commands this body the same as that which once called it their own...?In real life, the person behind the character of Mystic is a transmasculine/nonbinary AuDHD individual who engages in online communities as a way to compensate for difficulties building and maintaining friendships in the real world.

Disability Requirements

  • Mystic is autistic, and therefore has trouble communicating effectively at times. This can be in things as small as not understanding sarcasm, or as big as not understanding when something they say or do non-maliciously could be taken otherwise (more advice on effective communication below.

  • They are also strongly-suspected to have ADHD so they have a tendency towards digressing from the main point of a conversation if they hit upon a tangential connection to one of their special interests or something they relate to, as well as quickly-escalating frustration if something goes wrong when they're trying to execute tasks.

  • They also have inflammatory issues IRL, which can occasionally result in them getting paingry at times (ie angry as a result of being in pain, not so much because of someone else).

Patience and clarity about unconsciously unhealthy behaviours are helpful, so don't hesitate to speak up if you feel the need to! Just remember to use honesty as an instructive tool, not a blunt-force instrument.

Advice for effective communication

The best way to communicate with Mystic depends on the situation, but generally follows a simple rule: Mystic has C-PTSD, and therefore prefers people who can be gently honest with them, even if the truth itself hurts, over people who hold back the truth from them - even if that holding back or twisting of said truth was done out of good intentions - or who sit on negative feelings for the sake of 'not making a scene' until that negative emotion is the only thing guiding a person's actions.

  • Mystic often struggles to understand sarcasm when used by others, or - when attempting to use it themselves - might come across as more callous or rude than intended, and shy away from attempting to correct misunderstandings for fear of further conflict.

  • They can also sometimes take metaphors the wrong way, and feel too upset by their own potentially inaccurate understanding of the situation to ask for further clarification; this fear of saying the wrong thing by asking for clarification on serious topics can unfortunately lead to the very conclusion of saying the wrong thing because they're too scared to understand the actuality of the conversation.

Overall, the main takeaway is that if something is important, it is best to communicate it clearly and concisely to start with to make sure the main point is understood, and then rhetorical devices such as metaphor or artful interpretation can be introduced to help illustrate the emotional elements where relevant.
